Singapore minister Iswaran to lead yoga day session

Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information, S Iswaran is all set to lead one of the yoga day sessions in the city, the Indian High Commission stated today.

The session will be one of over 200 events planned across 130 centres across venues including Gardens by the Bay, Marina Barrage, as well as community centres as part of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations between June 15 and 25.

Over 30 local organisations, including state-initiatives Active SG and People's Association as well as yoga organisations, schools, universities, elder care centres, hospitals and mental health institutions will participate in the 10-day programme.

June 21 was declared as International Yoga Day when the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution, co-sponsored by 177 countries, in 2014.

Since then, it is observed each year in cities around the world.
