Singapore DPM Tharman India visit: Bilateral economic cooperation talks on cards

Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam is visiting India on Friday (Dec 30). The visit was announced through a press release from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Tharman, who is also coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies, will meet Indian Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Arun Jaitley during his trip to discuss the revisions to the tax agreement governing Singapore’s investments in India. The two will also talk about the ways to enhance bilateral economic cooperation, stated the PMO.

Tharman Shanmugaratnam will be accompanied by officials from Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

During his last visit to India, the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore had urged India to quicken the pace of economic reforms so that more jobs are created to ensure greater prosperity.
