Shangri-La Hotel likely venue for Trump-Kim summit

The section of Tanglin and Orchard Road – where Shangri-La Hotel is situated – has been gazetted by the Singapore authorities as a "special event area".

This makes the hotel a likely venue for the historic meeting between United States president Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The gazette order was made on Sunday, June 3, according to a report by Todayonline. It will be in force from June 10 to 14.

The area gazetted borders part of Nassim Road to the north and west, extending to Claymore Road, and to parts of Grange Road to the south. However, the venue for the summit was not directly mentioned.

Other prohibited items listed in the order include any substance or items that are “capable of being used to mark graffiti”; loud hailers, as well as flags or banners larger than 1m by 1m.

The White House had confirmed earlier that the meeting is slated to take place on June 12 at 9am.
