S Jaishankar to address UN General Assembly session on September 26

Union Home Minister S Jaishankar will address the 'High-Level Session' of the 78th United Nations General Assembly on September 26, officials said.

During his visit, he is also scheduled to meet US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

He will be visiting the US from September 22 to September 30.

"During his visit to New York from 22 to 26 September, EAM will be leading the Indian delegation for the High Level Week at the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)," read the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

In keeping with India’s support for Global South, EAM will be hosting a special event ‘India-UN for Global South: Delivering for Development’.

"During the visit, EAM would attend various plurilateral and bilateral meetings. EAM will also be meeting with the UN Secretary General H.E. Mr. António Guterres and H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly," read the statement.

"Upon completion of the 78th UNGA related engagements, EAM will visit Washington D.C. from 27 to 30 September for bilateral meetings with US interlocutors. His program includes inter alia, discussions with his counterpart H.E. Mr. Antony Blinken, Secretary of State, senior members of the U.S. Administration, US business leaders and think tanks. EAM will also be addressing the 4th World Culture Festival being organised by the Art of Living," the statement said.
