A CCTV footage has emerged purportedly showing a man driving the Hyundai i20 car that exploded near the Red Fort on Monday (November 10, 2025), killing at least eight people and injuring more than 20.

According to media reports, investigators are examining whether the individual seen in the footage is Dr. Mohammad Umar, who is currently being sought by security agencies. Sources told India Today that Umar is suspected to have planned the attack along with two associates. The group is believed to have fitted the vehicle with an improvised explosive device.

Investigators told the channel that Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (ANFO) was used in the blast, which occurred in a crowded area near the Sunehri Masjid and close to Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station. The car had reportedly been parked in the vicinity for nearly three hours before the explosion.

The Incident

The explosion took place around 6:52 p.m. on Monday as the vehicle, bearing a Haryana registration number, slowed near a traffic signal. The blast sent panic through the high-security Old Delhi area.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said the car was carrying three passengers at the time of the explosion. Forensic teams and anti-terror units are examining remains of the vehicle and nearby surveillance footage.

Vehicle Ownership Under Scrutiny

Police detained the registered owner of the car, identified as Salman, shortly after the blast. He told investigators he had sold the vehicle earlier.

Further inquiry has indicated that the vehicle was subsequently sold to a man named Tariq, a resident of Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The possible link to terror networks is under investigation, officials said.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the identity of the prime suspect seen in the CCTV footage, and the search for those involved is ongoing.
