Raccoon gets drunk after breaking into liquor shop in Virginia

Employees at a liquor store in Virginia got a shock when they returned to work on Saturday, November 29, and found the store ransacked. The burglar, however, wasn’t an usual suspect.

It was a racoon, who had ‘broken in’ and then went on a rampage, even getting drunk and passing out.

Employees called in officials from the animal control office and the animal, who had passed out in the bathroom, was taken to a shelter, where after an inspection, it was released back into the wild. Fortunately, the racoon didn’t sustain any injury.

According to reports, a CCTV footage also captured some moments of the ‘break-in’. Employees at the Ashland ABC store said that the racoon smashed some liquor bottles and gotten drunk.

The store was closed for Thanksgiving at the time of the intrusion.

Meanwhile, the store has now converted this racoon rampage into a full blown advertisement.

Taking to social media, Virginia ABC posted: “Raccoon’s Recommendations: Holiday Edition!

“Our neighborhood raccoon has excellent taste — especially when it comes to spirits worth loading into your cart this season! Here’s what to rummage for: bourbon, peanut butter whiskey, vodka, tequila and more.

“Whether you’re stocking up for gifting, hosting or just treating yourself, these Raccoon Recs are worth grabbing before they scurry away!” the store posted.

Social media users have also urged the store to consider the racoon as its official mascot!
