Premanadi: Experience the River of Love

Finding mention in numerous ancient texts, Ganga is a mother, a goddess, a life-giving river and a repository of people’s beliefs.

But the most beautiful part is perhaps the fact that each person, when they look at Ganga, can receive something different from her.

Premanadi – The River of Love is a dance-drama which drew inspiration from the many facets of the river Ganges, as well as the millions who live along her shores.

Built from the ground up by the youth at the Temple of Fine Arts, Premanadi is a fully original work made with love by a team of dedicated volunteers and stable of senior artistes. By embracing both past and present, Premanadi hopes to give access to culture and tradition to people from all walks of life through dance, drama and live musical orchestration.

What's also unique about this production is use of live music orchestration by a team of 15 musicians.

"Doing a live music for a dance-drama of this scale is something that we are doing for the very first time. It is a whole new learning experience for the all of us. Responding to the dance live, and executing every note correctly and in tempo so that it does justice to the drama and to the dancers – it's a huge challenge but we are really excited to be doing it," said Chitra Poornima, music composer.

Premanadi – The River of Love will run from August 11 to 12, at Drama Centre Theatre. Get your invitations here
