Padma Lakshmi’s reply to New Yorker post tagging her as Priyanka Chopra goes viral

Indian-origin celebrity host and model Padma Lakshmi called out The New Yorker magazine for tagging a photo of hers as Priyanka Chopra.

Announcing its traditional ‘celebrity cartoon takeover’, the magazine’s now-deleted Instagram post featured a photo of the Top Chef host tagged with Chopra’s name.

Calling out the error and deliberately tagging NY Daily News instead of The New Yorker, Lakshmi shared a screenshot of the post on her Instagram and Twitter handles, writing, “Thank you to the illustrious “@nydailynews” for the shoutout. I know to some we all look alike, but… #desilife #JustIndianThings.”

Lakshmi’s reply on social media went viral, with celebrities, including actors Natalie Portman and Michelle Lee, commenting and liking the post. Portman chimed in with a simple "Oh no."

Many on Twitter too were not impressed by the blunder and trolled the magazine with sarcastic GIFs and memes.

"W T F? This is ridiculous. It makes me so angry," said one user.

"You both are beautiful but way different…this is ignorance," another said.
