UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) announced a new case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) today, bringing the total number confirmed cases of the infection in the UAE to nine.

The ministry said that the latest case is a 37 years old Chinese person who was diagnosed during a routine check-up, conducted as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) standards and his condition is stable.

Of the nine cases of COVID-19 in the UAE, two patients were recently confirmed to have fully recovered. Six patients are still in intensive care and under close observation by a team of doctors.

The Ministry said that it has been following a very effective epidemiological monitoring mechanism, and taking all the necessary precautions to ensure that highly efficient preventive measures, including check-ups and observation of the people who have been in contact with infected patients are done in accordance with the highest global practices.

MoHaP urged the public to follow good hygiene practices and preventive procedures as per the awareness instructions, available on its website and the official websites of health authorities in the UAE.
