Modi tweeted his emotional thoughts on a day when the nation is observing 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas'.

Modi paid homage to them and recalled the struggles of those who were uprooted from their homes.

"Partition Remembrance Day is a time to reverently remember those Indians whose lives were sacrificed in the partition of the country. Along with this, the day also reminds us of the suffering and struggle of those who were forced to bear the brunt of displacement. I salute them," Modi wrote in Hindi in the X platform.

Last week, Narendra Modi asked citizens to upload photos with Tiranga on harghartiranga.com under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' initiative between August 13 and August 15.

The initiative has been taken as a part of the Independence Day celebration.

Modi tweeted: "The Tiranga symbolises the spirit of freedom and national unity. Every Indian has an emotional connect with the Tricolour and it inspires us to work harder to further national progress."

India will celebrate Independence Day on Tuesday.
