Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for a two-nation visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives on Wednesday, July 23, in a diplomatic outreach aimed at deepening strategic partnerships and boosting regional cooperation. This will be his fourth visit to the UK and third to the Maldives.

PM Modi’s visit to the UK is scheduled from July 23 to 24 and is being made at the invitation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, “During the visit, the two sides will also review the progress of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) with a specific focus on trade and economy, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate, health, education and people-to-people ties.”
The leaders will also discuss important regional and global developments of mutual concern. The visit is expected to bring fresh momentum to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in areas like the proposed India-UK Free Trade Agreement. PM Modi is also expected to call on King Charles III during his stay.
After wrapping up the UK leg, PM Modi will travel to the Maldives for a state visit from July 25 to 26 at the invitation of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
This will be the first visit by any head of state or government during President Muizzu’s term. It will also be PM Modi’s third official visit to the island nation.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, “The two leaders will also take stock of the progress in the implementation of the India-Maldives Joint Vision for a ‘Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership’, adopted during the State Visit of the President of Maldives to India in October 2024.”
PM Modi has also been invited to be the Guest of Honour at the 60th Independence Day celebrations of the Maldives on July 26. The visit highlights India’s commitment to maritime neighbours under its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and the broader Vision MAHASAGAR. The two sides are expected to assess progress in important sectors including infrastructure development, defence cooperation, and economic connectivity.
The two-nation tour is seen as part of India’s broader diplomatic effort to expand strategic ties and reaffirm its influence in the Indian Ocean region and beyond.
