The film is set to premiere exclusively on the platform on June 20, 2025.

Set in Budapest, Hungary, Detective Sherdil is a whodunnit where nothing is as it appears and everyone has something to hide.

The story kicks off with the gruesome murder of a flamboyant billionaire business tycoon, portrayed by Boman Irani. What initially seems like a hate crime soon spirals into a much more complex conspiracy, woven with betrayal, buried secrets, and billion-dollar stakes.

Diljit leads the narrative as Detective Sherdil — a charming, eccentric, and razor-sharp investigator whose unconventional methods are as captivating as his wit. Joining him is Diana Penty as Natasha, a poised and sharp-witted investigator whose intelligence is matched by her commanding presence.

The film features an ensemble cast, including Ratna Pathak Shah, Chunky Panday, Sumeet Vyas, Banita Sandhu, and Kashmira Irani, each playing characters with hidden motives and layered backstories, ensuring the suspense remains taut till the very end.

Created by AAZ Films and Offside Entertainment, presented by Maurya Entertainment Production, and directed by Ravi Chhabriya, Detective Sherdil blends suspense with dark humour, layered characters, and unexpected twists.

Talking about his character, Diljit said, “Playing Detective Sherdil has been fun for me. The character quirks and this attitude is something that I have tried differently. Hope audiences enjoy this character and the film.”

Diljit, who started his career as a singer, transitioned into acting in 2010 with Mel Karade Rabba. However, he found success with Jatt & Juliet in 2012 and his graph has been on the rise since.

Apart from his mic skills and acting chops, Diljit is also a fashion icon, recently turning heads at the iconic Met Gala with his maharaja avatar.

Speaking to Connected to India, ace fashion designer Arjun Khanna complimented Diljit’s sartorial sense. “I must say, very humbly, I really truly think Diljit Dosanjh has come a long way,” Arjun said.

“I thought his look was somehow just too cool for school,” Arjun said, decoding Diljit’s Met Gala look. “The guy does it with a flare. I don’t think he realises what he’s doing. He does it with a bit of a attitude without attitude. I think he’s a natural cadet. I mean, he’s really good. He’s solid with his art form. He’s risen from the ranks from nowhere and has become Diljit Dosanjh. I think he’s a phenomenon.”
