‘Kaanta Laga’ girl Shefali Jariwala dies at 42, Mumbai Police initiates investigation

Actor and model Shefali Jariwala, best known for her appearance in the early 2000s hit music video “Kaanta Laga”, passed away at the age of 42 in Mumbai on Friday night, June 27. She reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital by her husband Parag Tyagi and three others, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Her body was later moved to Cooper Hospital around 12:30 am for postmortem. According to hospital authorities, the body was brought from another facility and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem, although initial reports indicate a heart attack.

Mumbai Police reached her residence in the Andheri area late at night and have begun an investigation. A forensic team also visited the house and conducted a detailed search. Police officials confirmed they received information about her death around 1 am and that they are awaiting the postmortem results to proceed further.

Shefali rose to fame in 2002 with the music video “Kaanta Laga”, which made her a household name. She later acted in Salman Khan’s film “Mujhse Shaadi Karogi” and appeared in reality shows like “Boogie Woogie”, “Nach Baliye”, and “Bigg Boss 13”. In recent years, she was seen in the web series “Baby Come Naa”.

She was previously married to musician Harmeet Singh of Meet Brothers fame before the two separated in 2009. In 2015, she married actor Parag Tyagi.

Her sudden death has shocked fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry. Celebrities including Mika Singh, Rajiv Adatia, Kamya Panjabi, and Aly Goni have expressed their grief on social media, remembering her for her work and presence in the industry.
