In a rather unusual turn of events that left even the police scratching their heads, a woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district walked out of her marriage — not over dowry or domestic violence — but due to a dip in her Instagram followers, allegedly caused by excessive household chores, according to reports.

According to police sources, the woman lodged a complaint against her husband, stating that she was made to wash utensils and clean the house, leaving her with little to no time to create content for her Instagram page.
As per her complaint, the woman regularly posted two reels a day on her account, but was unable to keep up due to her domestic duties.
The husband, meanwhile, filed a counter-complaint, claiming that his wife was always busy making reels and neglected the household chores. He also alleged that she had threatened to leave him if she wasn’t allowed to focus on her social media activity.
Police at the Mahila Thana were left mediating what can only be called a 21st-century marital dispute. The matter, however, did reach a resolution.
Sources said the woman remained firm on her stand of posting reels daily, and eventually the couple reached a mutual understanding.
