A shocking incident from Delhi’s Nirman Vihar has gone viral after pictures of a brand-new Mahindra Thar lying upside down on the road surfaced online. The SUV had reportedly crashed out of the first floor of a showroom during a ritual being performed by its new owner, just moments after taking delivery.

The incident took place on Monday evening, September 8, when 29-year-old Maani Pawar visited the Mahindra showroom to collect her Thar, which cost around INR 27 lakh (USD 30,629).
Before driving it home, she decided to perform a customary ritual — a common tradition among many car buyers in India — where a lemon is placed under the front wheel of the vehicle and crushed underneath the tyres as a sign of good luck. The idea is to slowly move the car forward to crush the lemon.
However, what followed was entirely unexpected. Instead of gently releasing the clutch or brake, Pawar accidentally pressed the accelerator. The vehicle suddenly shot forward, crashed through the glass wall of the showroom, and fell from the first floor onto the pavement below. A showroom employee named Vikas was also inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Photos and videos from the scene, now widely circulated on social media, show the Thar overturned on the road, with shattered glass and debris scattered around. The damage to the SUV appears significant, but both Pawar and the employee escaped with only minor injuries.
