Even as the United States took on the unsavory title of the country with the most coronavirus infections on Thursday, it said it would work together closely with India in combating the deadly coronavirus.
India's Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu and his counterpart Ken Juster, US Ambassador to India echoed Prime Minister Modi and President Trump's call of collaboration and keeping spirits high.
In line with this the Indian consulate in the US has initiated free yoga classes, “to keep healthy and cheerful while working from home” the tweet read.
The consulate also reached out, offering information and assistance to Businesses & investors for business continuity amid the global COVID-19 crisis.
Indian, Indian-American & other hotel owners came forward to help people with accommodation. "Together we can overcome the fight against COVID-19!”, Ambassador Sandhu tweeted.
The Ambassador also complimented the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) for taking the lead in connecting hundreds of doctors across the United States to support and share experiences in this time of crisis.
"In the present context of COVID-19 pandemic, close collaboration in the areas of diagnostics and therapeutics of the disease is underway," said Sandhu.
"India and the United States have had a long-standing productive partnership in the healthcare sector, especially between the research institutions and industries of both countries," he added.
Meanwhile, India-based vendors of American companies are in touch with the Indian Council of Medical Research to engage and enhance the capabilities for COVID-19 testing in India.
"The US will work shoulder to shoulder with India to combat the COVID-19 outbreak. Together, we can safeguard our citizens and people everywhere," acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Alice G Wells, said in a tweet, referring to the cooperation between the two countries.
