India has strongly rejected Pakistan’s remarks at the United Nations Security Council, accusing it of misusing the platform to spread false narratives and divert global attention from its own human rights issues and cross-border terrorism.

During the Security Council’s open debate on Children and Armed Conflict, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, made a firm statement against Pakistan’s comments, describing them as an attempt to push a “nefarious agenda”.
India accused Pakistan of trying to deflect focus from the serious violations against children within its own borders, which were highlighted in the recent report by the UN Secretary-General.
The report pointed to the growing number of grave violations, including attacks on schools, especially girls’ schools, and on health workers. It also mentioned incidents of Afghan children being killed or injured as a result of cross-border shelling and air strikes by Pakistani forces along the Afghanistan border.
Referring to a terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 Indian tourists lost their lives, India said the act was carried out by Pakistani or Pakistan-backed terrorists. The Security Council had earlier issued a press statement on this attack, stressing the need to hold those responsible accountable.

India reminded the global body of this statement and linked the attack to what it described as ongoing state-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
India also highlighted its own counter-terrorism action carried out on May 7, under Operation Sindoor, where Indian forces struck nine terrorist infrastructure sites.
These strikes were described as proportionate and carefully targeted. India noted that those who were killed in these operations were later given state funerals in Pakistan, which it said was evidence of official support for terrorist elements.
In his statement, the Indian envoy also criticised the shelling of Indian border villages by Pakistani forces in May 2025, which led to civilian casualties. He questioned the credibility of Pakistan’s statements at the UN, calling them hypocritical in light of these actions.
Reiterating its long-standing position, India said the entire union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country and will always remain so, regardless of Pakistan’s repeated claims and statements to the contrary.
