With food waste being one of the major waste streams in Singapore, the new community fridges located in Yishun heartlands could be a way to help the residents adopt a more sustainable way of life.
Located at block 162, Yishun Street 11, the community fridges were launched on January 11 by Law Minister K Shanmugam.
The initiative was organised by Free Food For All (FFFA) & Chong Pang CC Division and supported by Darul Makmur Mosque.
Residents can store excess or unsold food in the community fridges. The food can then be picked up by those who need it, thereby reducing wastage and helping those in need.
