IMDA digitalises the wet market experience online with Tekka Online Market

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has launched the Tekka Online Market Facebook page in a bid to digitalise the wet market experience of Tekka market – one of oldest wet markets in Singapore.

Collaborating with live stream star Max Kee, a wholesaler of Lian Huat Seafood, the initiative uses the concept of selling fresh seafood – an item close to many seniors’ hearts – through Facebook Live.

Through the Facebook page, seniors will be able to buy and make cashless payment using PayNow for the food products offered by the three participating merchants from Tekka market. They are: Chia’s Vegetables Supply, Haji M N Shahul Hameed Marketing and 81 Sheng Yu.

These merchants will be selling online on May 5 and 12, from 12pm onwards.

Announcing the launch, IMDA said it seeks to build seniors’ interest to go digital and carry out their daily activities and the ease of purchasing groceries online.

Minister for Communications and Information S Iswaran added in a Facebook post, "I encourage our seniors to seize this opportunity to equip yourselves with digital tools and solutions which will not only help you tide over the circuit breaker period, but enable you to be a part of Singapore’s digital future."
