The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a major financial boost for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup, scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, 2025.

In what is being described as the biggest prize money pool in the history of women’s cricket, the total amount for the eight-team tournament has been set at 13.88 million USD.
This marks a significant 297 percent increase from the 3.5 million USD awarded in the previous edition held in New Zealand in 2022.
With this announcement, the 2025 edition of the Women’s World Cup has now surpassed the total prize money offered during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which was 10 million USD.
The champions of this year’s tournament will walk away with 4.48 million USD, a 239 percent increase from the amount given to Australia for winning in 2022. The runners-up will receive 2.24 million USD, which is 273 percent higher than what England earned for finishing second three years ago.
The two losing semi-finalists are also set to benefit from the increased allocation, each receiving 1.12 million USD. In the previous tournament, this figure stood at 300,000 USD. Additionally, every team taking part in the group stage will be assured a participation fee of 250,000 USD. For each group-stage victory, teams will be awarded 34,314 USD.
Teams finishing fifth and sixth will be awarded 700,000 USD each, while those placed seventh and eighth will receive 280,000 USD apiece. This revised structure reflects the ICC’s broader strategy to accelerate the growth of women’s cricket globally.
The announcement follows the introduction of pay parity by the ICC ahead of the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup and is seen as another step towards ensuring equal treatment for women athletes in the sport. The ICC has stated that this decision is aimed at delivering a world-class tournament and inspiring a new generation of cricketers and fans.
The 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup will kick off with hosts India taking on Sri Lanka at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on September 30.
