Hitting the right Sur: Sushma Soma’s debut album Sa brings alive her love for music

Homegrown Carnatic singer Sushma Somasekharan has recently released her first ever EP titled ‘Sa’, bringing together artists from all over the world.

Sushma’s musical journey began at the age of four when her parents sent her for vocal lessons at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS). Over the last couple of decades, her music and love for the art blossomed in ways she herself never imagined.

This year marks a special milestone with ‘Sa’, a work she holds close to her heart. “Art moves me in a way that I can't describe, and I want to be able to share that poignant experience with everyone around me,” Sushma said, adding that as with most art forms, the key ingredient to success is an obsessive love for the art itself.

In this exclusive interview with Connected to India, she brings us back to where it all began –  SIFAS – and shares the joys and challenges of her passionate musical journey.

Sa is available on Spotify as well as all other digital streaming platforms.
