With Vesak Day falling on Saturday, May 18, this year, the following Monday, May 20, will be a public holiday.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has issued an advisory indicating that traffic flow through the land checkpoints is expected to be heavy in the lead-up to and during the coming long weekend.

From Friday, May 17, to Monday, May 20, travellers using the checkpoints at Tuas and Woodlands can expect delays and are advised to adjust their travel plans where necessary.

ICA also reminded travellers not to carry prohibited items such as firecrackers, ‘Pop-Pop” or chewing gum. Those who are carrying dutiable or controlled items – such as eggs, meat products and potted plants – should make declarations to officers prior to checks.
