Passengers may be sipping coffee or watching a film at 30,000 feet, but some crew members may be busy with far more intimate affairs in the skies. In a revelation that has sparked widespread curiosity, a flight attendant has claimed that pilots and cabin crew sometimes engage in sexual activity mid-flight, even while officially on duty.

The unverified claim has been made by Cierra Mistt, an experienced air hostess, who switched from commercial to chartered flight attendant.
She shared the inside story in a viral video on TikTok, lifting the curtain on what she described as a hidden culture among some aviation professionals. “Here’s how pilots and flight attendants join the mile high club while they’re on the clock and you’re in the passenger seats,” Mistt began in her now widely circulated clip.
She explained, “So, there’s at least two pilots in the flight deck, and there has to be at least two people in the flight deck at all times on the flight.” According to her, the opportunity arises when one pilot leaves the cockpit for a break. “If a pilot is hungry or has to pee, he has to come out of the flight deck, but a flight attendant has to go in there to replace him,” she added. “And that’s how plans of initiation [to join] the mile high club [are] activated.”
Though such activities are not officially considered illegal, other crew members, like Suzanne Bucknam, have expressed discomfort with midair encounters — as reported by the NY Post — recalling times when she has caught passengers under blankets or inside aircraft lavatories.
Mistt, however, is unapologetic and even hinted at personal experiences. She further advised that careful planning is essential. “No. 1, make sure you work with a crew that you can trust, [who] also know your plan [to have sex]. No. 2, you pick a flight that you know has a route that’s normally a smooth ride.”
“Passengers have absolutely no idea what is going down in that flight deck,” she said. “The plane is on autopilot.”
