Formed in 2013, Shumba ye Moyo take a modern approach to the reinterpretation of African music. With source material from Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi and the Kingdom of eSwatini (Swaziland), this is vibrant chamber music, both traditional and new.

Though firmly settled in African soil, the band’s music also shows the influence of our homelands and lands of travel—so the instruments and music of Cuba, Bangladesh, North America and Scandanavia also reference the band’s sound.
