Five things to do on the weekend of May 27-28

Ramadan starts this weekend, so be sure to check out the annual Geyland Serai Bazaar. Do expect a huge crowd! But note that the rule of thumb for finding good food in Singapore is where the crowd gathers ;) More details below.

1. Blue Beauties

Gardens by the Bay celebrates its 5thanniversary, a special colour in the Plant Kingdom takes centrestage in Flower Dome. Blue may seem ubiquitous in everyday life, but true spectrum blue is one of the most uncommon colours in plants.

2. Speaklow! Speakeasy Music Sessions feat. Shun Sakai

It's going to be a breathtaking music session with Japan's phenomenal jazz vocalist Shun Sakai, at Palm Ave Float Club - one of Asia's best-known state-of-the-art float centres.

Come ready to dive into her world of vocal improvisation and explore new possiblities as she engages you in a participatory improv session using UFO drums.

3. Jia Pah Lang

Collaborating for the first time, Jia Pah Lang assembles four accomplished musicians—Jordan Wei (keyboard), Phoebee (vocals), Ivan Yeo (percussion), and Benjamin Hum (vocals)—in a lovely acoustic mix.

They will be performing nostalgic songs from drama series on local TV. It's gonna be an afternoon of made-in-Singapore tunes!

4. Geylang Serai Bazaar 2017

Ramadan starts this Friday, and the annual Geylang Serai Bazaar returns! Indulge in sinful pasar malam food such as Ramly burgers, chicken wings and otah-otah; there'll also be hippie items such as candyfloss burritos. 

What's more, look out for the wide array of activities held in conjunction with the market.

5. The Wizard of Oz

Join Dorothy on magical journey into the Land of Oz, as she meets many other creatures and characters along the way. The enchanting tale will be told through different types of dance such as ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and lyrical.
