Five things to do in Singapore over the weekend of Jan 27-28

The end of January is especially important to the young hipsters – because St Jerome Laneway Festival is back! Put on your raybans, grab your fellow music lovers, and head down for a good time. 

In the recent years, runs and marathons featuring a myriad of themes have emerged. This weekend, both the Pokemon Run and the Safari Zoo Run are happening at the same time. So if keeping fit is on your New Year resolutions, take your pick!

1. St Jerome’s Laneway Festival Singapore

This festival has been a hipster staple since it made its debut in Singapore in 2011. 

This year's headliners hip-hop artist Anderson Paak, American singer-songwriter Father John Misty and the return of Laneway alum, Mac DeMarco. Of course, local acts will be featured too – Obedient Wives Club, Amateur Takes Control and Mas1a and more. 

Rain or shine, Laneway Festival never disappoints.

2. Light to Night Festival

This 10-day Light to Night Festival closes this weekend, so if you haven't, do head down to capture some Instagram-worthy shots!

Local acts such as Linying, Adia Tay and Disco Hue will be playing at Padang Atrium on Saturday. The night closes with Sing! China finalist Joanna Dong, who will be sharing her love for jazz.

3. Pokemon Run Carnival 2018

The early bird shall get the Pokemons! The run returns this year with an upgraded adventure course on run route featuring Pokémon-type themed inflatables and zones. 

What's more, there's a Carnival-only option for Pokémon Trainers to spend a full-day of fun-filled activities!

4. Safari Zoo Run 2018

Calling animal lovers! If Pikachu isn't your cup of tea, come do your part for endangered wildlife in Singapore.

The event is aimed at raising awareness for native wildlife conservation, and at the same time, expect lots of fun-filled activities for the family!

5. Does This Work For You?

Does This Work For You? is a physical theatre production that discusses discrimination within the workplace and the ability to triumph in the face of challenges.

Paired with the form of verbatim theatre, the work invites you to take a closer look at the Singapore workplace environment and aims to recalibrate the way we view social norms and stigmas.
