Many might have thought it was a UFO, but in reality, it was part of the Eta Aquarids meteor shower.

This meteor shower happens every year around early May.

In 2025, it is active from 20 April to 21 May, as per reports.

The best days to see it are 6 and 7 May. The best time to watch is around 3 am, when the sky is very dark and clear.

During this time, people can see many meteors if the weather is good and the sky is not too bright from city lights.

The Eta Aquarids are named after the star Eta Aquarii, which is in the Aquarius constellation. The meteors seem to come from that part of the sky.

These meteors are small pieces of dust and rock left by Halley’s Comet. When they enter Earth’s atmosphere, they burn up and create bright trails of light in the sky.

If you want to see the meteor shower better, it’s good to go to places away from city lights. Some good places in Singapore are Changi Bay Point and Upper Seletar Reservoir.
