Eight-month pregnant Indian-origin woman crushed in Sydney mishap; teen driver in custody

A 33-year-old eight-month pregnant Indian-origin woman died after a BMW Sedan fatally hit her in Hornsby suburb of Australia’s Sydney last Friday (November 14, 2025), media reports said.

 The woman was identified as Samanvitha Dhareshwar.

According to reports, the driver who allegedly hit another car that ultimately knocked down the Indian-origin woman.

The NSW Police Force said in a statement: “Police will allege a Kia Carnival was struck from behind by a BMW causing it to crash into the pedestrian.”

“NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the 33-year-old female pedestrian, who was eight months pregnant, at the scene. She was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition where she and the unborn baby later died,” the statement further said, sharing details about the tragedy.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old driver Aaron Papazoglu, who hit the Indian woman, has been denied bail by the magistrate.

Papazoglu has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death and causing the loss of foetus – death of a pregnant woman, reported news.com.au.

Aaron Papazoglu and the driver of the  Kia Carnival – a 48-year-old man – were not injured in the incident.

Aaron Papazoglu was arrested at a home on Millewa Avenue, Wahroonga.
