Rishi Sunak visited India over the weekend to attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi.

Sunak, who visited New Delhi's Akshardham Temple by taking a brief break from his busy G20 schedule, on Sunday said he is a 'proud Hindu' and his India-origin root will always help him connect with the country.

"I am hugely proud of my Indian roots and my connections to India ... being a proud Hindu means I will always have a connection to India and the people of India," the PM was quoted as saying in an X post by the British High Commission.

This was Rishi Sunak's first official visit to India since becoming Britain's Prime Minister.

Before leaving India after the completion of the summit, Sunak described the G20 meet as 'historic' and 'thanked' his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for hosting the event.
