United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson has invited his Indian counterpart PM Narendra Modi to attend the G7 summit to be held in Cornwall from 11-13 June. Apart from India, Australia and South Korea have also been invited “to deepen the expertise and experience around the table”.

The G7 group includes the world's seven leading democratic economies - UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the USA - plus the European Union.

The leaders will discuss global issues like the coronavirus pandemic, climate change and open trade.

Modi had attended the G7 summit in Biarritz in France in August 2019 and was also invited for the 2020 summit hosted by the US — which could not take place due to the pandemic.
