In a huge relief to the spouses of those on H-1B work visas in the US, the Biden administration has withdrawn a Donald Trump proposal that sought to rescind their work authorisation.

Under the Barack Obama administration, a regulation was passed that allowed certain sections of the spouses of H-1B visa holders to work in the US.

The Trump administration however was working on removing the “H-4 Dependent Spouses from the Class of Aliens Eligible for Employment Authorization".

The proposal was under review by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA). However, the Biden administration has now withdrawn the proposal.
