Thousands of residents of the Indian community in Abu Dhabi assembled at the Umm Al Emarat Park to celebrate the fifth edition of International Day of Yoga.
The event, organised by the Indian Embassy, saw enthusiastic participation from people across age groups as they did the various yoga asanas on mats.
Various sessions of yoga were conducted by ten yoga schools of Abu Dhabi. The sessions included therapeutic yoga, face yoga, raja yoga, laughter yoga, and heartfulness yoga.
A video message by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also played out at the event, followed by a cultural programme organised by the Indian Ladies’ Association.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the chief guest on the occasion.
“The UAE is a strong supporter of International Day of Yoga. This event promotes close friendship between India and the UAE. The Sanskrit phrase of Vasudaiva Kudumbakam (the world is one family) from the Indian scriptures has a great message for the world to follow,” said the Minister.
