ZEE5 Global is set to release its latest original film Kaalidhar Laapata on 4th July, featuring Abhishek Bachchan in a unique role that marks a new chapter in his acting journey.
Directed by Madhumita and produced by Zee Studios in association with Emmay Entertainment, the film also stars Daivik Bhagela and Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub in significant roles.
Set in the vibrant and rustic heartlands of rural India, Kaalidhar Laapata is a dramedy that weaves together themes of companionship, renewal, and self-discovery.
Sharing the news of the release, Abhishek wrote on social media: “Sometimes, getting lost isn’t a detour, it’s where the real story begins. Full of dreams, twists, and the people who make it worth it.”
The story revolves around Kaalidhar, an ageing man who decides to run away after learning of his family’s intentions to abandon him. As he grapples with his sense of purpose and loneliness, his path unexpectedly crosses with Ballu, a lively eight-year-old orphan full of enthusiasm and curiosity.
Their chance meeting blossoms into an extraordinary friendship as they embark on an unplanned road trip, ticking off a whimsical bucket list and finding joy in life’s simple moments. As the journey unfolds, the duo build a bond that transcends age and background, highlighting the importance of human connection and the hope that can be found in unexpected places.
Kaalidhar Laapata is ZEE5 Global’s next offering in its slate of original Hindi content and reflects the platform’s ongoing focus on heartfelt, character-driven narratives. This project also marks the third collaboration between Zee and Emmay Entertainment and the first with Abhishek Bachchan in the lead.
The film will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 Global on 4th July.
