As someone who has been working in Bollywood for over five decades, Javed Akhtar has been privy and part of several landmark projects, including the iconic Sholay. Naturally, Javed Saab, as he is known fondly amongst the Indian diaspora, is a treasure trove of film stories. That he’s a credible raconteur, makes it even more appealing.
During an exclusive chat with Connected to India, Javed Saab, who will be in Singapore with his show Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon, as part of Kalaa Utsavam 2025, the octogenarian shared how this show was conceived and what makes him relevant even after all these years!
Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon, which combines songs from Meiyang Chang and Jahnvi Shrimankar and stories by Javed Saab, started sometime in 2018. The ace lyricist was narrating an incident related to a song he had written to some of his friends a few years back and it was well received by the group. The positive feedback he received, formed the basis of the show.
Javed Saab said that the show has travelled to the US, Gulf, and the UK, apart from multiple cities in India. He’s confident that just like the 70-odd shows that received overwhelming response, those coming to the Esplanade Concert Hall on November 22 will leave with happy memories.
