A video has emerged on social media where a person can be seen ‘assaulting’ an Indian-origin man inside a McDonald’s outlet in Canada.
The incident came to light amid the rising cases of attacks on immigrants in the country.
In the video, the attacker, wearing a blue jacket, could be seen approaching a brown man near the ‘Mobile Order Pick Up’ counter of a McDonald’s outlet and then suddenly attacking him.
The attacker, who seemed to be intoxicated, first pushed the victim, dropping his mobile phone to the ground.
The attacker charged towards him, pulled his collar and shoved the victim back when he picked up his mobile phone from the floor.
The attacker was heard accusing the victim of ‘acting superior’ in front of him.
The victim did not respond aggressively as the attackers continued their assault, forcing a staff member to intervene.
The staff member asked them to take the matter outside.
The attacker was later escorted out of the restaurant premises.
No police statement has been issued so far.
This incident came to light days after Indian-origin businessman Arvi Singh Sagoo, 55, died following an unprovoked assault in Canada’s Edmonton after confronting a stranger who was urinating on his car, local media reported.
Sagoo was attacked on October 19 while returning to his car with his girlfriend after dinner.
The Edmonton Police Service has arrested the suspect, Kyle Papin, and charged him with aggravated assault.
Authorities told the media that the investigation remains ongoing and further charges could be added pending the autopsy results.
