Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan turned 60 on Sunday, prompting an outpouring of love from fans across the globe.

However, hundreds who gathered outside his Mumbai residence, Mannat, were left disappointed as the actor skipped his customary appearance from the balcony.

Fans from around the world flooded social media with birthday wishes for the matinee idol, celebrating six decades of his life and career.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Khan apologised to his fans, citing safety concerns.

“Have been advised by authorities that I will not be able to step out and greet all you lovely people who have been waiting for me,” he wrote. “My deepest apologies to all of you but have been informed that it is for the overall safety of everyone due to crowd control issues.”

“Thank you for understanding, and believe me, I will miss seeing you more than you will. Was looking forward to seeing you all and sharing love. Love you all,” the actor added.

According to media reports, Mannat is currently undergoing renovation, which reportedly led authorities to restrict public gatherings near the residence.
