OpenAI launches ChatGPT Go service in India at USD 4.57 per month

Tech firm OpenAI on Monday launched ChatGPT Go, a new subscription plan targeting only the Indian market.

The plan is priced at INR 399 per month (USD 4.57).

The subscription plan appears to be aimed at the nearly one billion internet users in the most populous nation in the world.

Introducing the service, OpenAI wrote in a statement: “We’re launching ChatGPT Go, a new low-cost subscription plan. This will initially be available for users in India only.”

The plan can be availed on web, mobile (iOS & Android), and desktop (macOS & Windows).

OpenAI said ChatGPT Go is currently geo-restricted to India, and it can be subscribed to using a credit card or UPI.

Subscribers can access advanced data analysis and benefit from longer memory for more personalised responses with ChatGPT Go.

The tech major also offers the ChatGPT Pro service at INR 19,900 (USD 228) per month in India.

Users can also avail of the ChatGPT Plus service for INR 1,999 (USD 22.90) per month.

Nick Turley, Head of ChatGPT, wrote on X: “We just launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new subscription tier that gives users in India more access to our most popular features: 10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared with our free tier. All for Rs. 399.”
