A floating fashion runway, cultural showcase, and networking night will unfold off Singapore’s western coast on August 24, as “Runway on the Waves” takes over the historic Fu Ning ship at Raffles Marina. The event begins at 4:30 PM, with tickets priced at SGD 60 and limited seats available.

Set aboard Fu Ning — a towering three-storey wooden vessel built using ancient Fujian shipbuilding techniques — the evening blends fashion, food, and heritage in a unique maritime setting. The ship, berthed permanently near the Raffles Marina Lighthouse, is inspired by the legendary voyages of Admiral Zheng He and has been recognised by UNESCO for its cultural significance.

Attendees can expect a sunset fashion show featuring designs by Evön Ong, Silver Petals, Nidhi Jain Kumar Designs, and Nayyab by Arti Mittra. The showcase will unfold against a coastal backdrop, with golden-hour views of the marina. Alongside the runway, a curated dinner by celebrity chef Varun Inamdar will be served, in collaboration with 27 Degrees West.

Live performances and music will accompany the evening, as the event aims to bring together designers, creatives, and professionals from across industries.

According to organisers, the event is not just as a fashion spectacle, but as a platform for conversation, collaboration, and cultural exchange.

Fu Ning itself adds weight to the event’s theme. Built between 2015 and 2019 using traditional watertight-bulkhead construction methods from China’s Fujian province, the ship stands as a tribute to centuries-old maritime heritage. While it remains docked, its decks offer sweeping views and a rare chance to explore a preserved example of Chinese seafaring history.
