Indian airspace will remain closed to Pakistani aircraft till August 23, 2025, as the Indian government has officially extended the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) restricting entry, reports said.

This move follows Pakistan’s earlier decision to bar Indian airline flights from using its airspace. According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, the ban on Indian carriers will stay in effect till August 24 at 5:19 am India time.

The tit-for-tat restrictions have created a sustained airspace standoff between the two countries amid rising military activity along the border.

Meanwhile, a NOTAM has also been issued for a major Indian Air Force exercise scheduled between July 23 and 25 in Rajasthan.

The exercise will cover areas from Barmer to Jodhpur, a region that has previously seen drone and missile intrusions by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. In that operation, Pakistan had launched drone attacks targeting multiple districts in Rajasthan, including Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Sri Ganganagar.

The NOTAM is a precautionary measure that ensures civilian aircraft are kept away from military zones to prevent any risk of harm. Notices like these are commonly issued during periods of military tension to ensure safe air navigation.

The latest NOTAM is being seen in the context of India’s Operation Sindoor, which began on May 7 in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam where 26 civilians were killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.
