A career exploration and mentorship programme designed to empower the Singapore youth and to nurture future-ready talent was launched this weekend by the India-headquartered business conglomerate Tata Group and the Singapore-based community network People’s Association.
Tata Group of companies in Singapore (namely, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Communications, Tata Chemicals Limited, Air India, Tanishq, Titan, Tata Capital and Bombay Brasserie) launched the Tata-PA Youth Career Exploration & Mentorship Programme, in collaboration with People’s Association (PA) Project We Care (PWC), East Coast and Marine Parade–Braddell Heights Group Representation Constituency (GRC) Grassroots Organisations.
“This initiative underscores Tata’s dedication to empowering youth in Singapore and addressing community needs and aspirations, through meaningful mentorship and career development opportunities,” said a media release.
It added: “The Tata-PA Youth Career Exploration & Mentorship Programme is dedicated to empowering more than 60 youths aged 15 to 25 from diverse backgrounds by providing career exploration opportunities and personalised mentorship.”
The programme was officially launched on Saturday, 19 July 2025, at Heartbeat@Bedok by Guest of Honour Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for Health and Digital Development and Information, Singapore. Joining in the launch were Rahul Shah, Resident Director – ASEAN, Tata Sons; Girish Ramachandran, President, Growth Markets at TCS; Wee Wei Ling, PBM, Chairperson of Project We Care; and Kia Siang Wei, Group Director (Partnership), PA.

Actionable insights and skills for young minds
The three-month programme aims to provide more than 60 youths from diverse backgrounds in East Coast GRC, Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC, Institutes of Higher Learning and other parts of Singapore with career exploration experiences and light-touch mentoring across various Tata Group companies.
The programme aims to inspire the next generation of leaders while fostering innovation and community engagement.
During the launch event, mentees had the opportunity to network with their mentors and gain deeper insights into the diverse industries and expertise represented within the Tata ecosystem.
Girish Ramachandran, President, Growth Markets at TCS, said, “In today’s fast-evolving job landscape, young individuals are seeking the right guidance, hands-on learning, and opportunities that align with their aspirations. The Tata-PA Youth Career Exploration & Mentorship Programme is designed to equip them with the right tools, knowledge and real-world exposure they need to develop their skills and shape their future with confidence.”
He said that “this initiative reaffirms our dedication to supporting the nation’s continued growth and progress”, as Singapore celebrated SG60.
Kia Siang Wei, Group Director (Partnership), PA said, “We are delighted to collaborate with the Tata Group for the Tata-PA Youth Career Exploration & Mentorship Programme, a purposeful initiative that reflects our mission to spark and nurture community participation.”
He added, “We, at PA, are proud to be the community enabler and catalyst. By bringing together industry leaders and our young talent, we are not only providing youths from diverse backgrounds with valuable career insights and skills [but also] nurture collaboration and spark the bonds that bind our community together.”

The Tata-PA Youth Career Exploration & Mentorship Programme offers a dynamic, hands-on learning experience through three key components:
• Company visits to Tata Group companies for real-world exposure
• Role-based mentor-mentee matching for tailored guidance
• Sharing of reflections of learning among mentees and mentors
Each mentee will be matched with a dedicated mentor leader from one of the Tata Group Companies, based on their desired job roles/career aspirations. These 60 mentors are carefully selected based on their expertise, leadership qualities and passion for youth development, ensuring they bring both professional insight and personal guidance to the mentorship programme.
These 60 mentors will offer personalised support, share personal experiences, and provide guidance on how to navigate career choices, by organising regular check ins.

Mentees will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to the professional world through bi-weekly visits to participating Tata companies. These immersive experiences will help them bridge classroom learning with real-world business practices. In addition, they will receive practical career guidance, including an overview of typical roles within Tata Group companies; the educational pathways to pursue them; and the key skills and competencies needed to thrive in these careers.
