One of India’s most iconic blockbusters, Baahubali: The Beginning, completed 10 years on Thursday, July 10, and to mark the occasion, director S S Rajamouli announced the release of Baahubali – The Epic, a two-part combined film that will hit theatres worldwide on October 31, 2025.

The announcement was made by the filmmaker through his Instagram stories, where he shared his thoughts on the journey and the inspiration the film has brought over the last decade.
Just days earlier, the film’s producer Shobu Yarlagadda had recalled the intense emotions and anxious moments leading up to the film’s original release in 2015.
Reflecting on those days, he shared on social media how nerve-racking that period was for the entire team involved with the film. He also looked back at tweets and screenshots from that time, highlighting the critical praise and excitement around the film’s release. He invited fans to share what they had felt when the first part of the franchise released.
Baahubali: The Beginning, which released on July 10, 2015, was the first of a two-part franchise directed by S S Rajamouli and starred Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah in the lead roles. The film broke several box office records and became a massive success across India and internationally.
The first hints of a re-release were given by producer Shobu Yarlagadda, who had announced plans for an Indian and global re-release of Baahubali in October. He mentioned that it would not be just a regular re-release but a celebration filled with nostalgia, surprises, and new content for fans around the world.
The second part of the franchise, Baahubali 2, released in 2017 in more than 9,000 screens globally. Made on a budget of INR 250 crore, the film earned over INR 1,800 crore worldwide, becoming the highest grossing Indian film of all time. It was also the first Indian film to cross the INR 1,000 crore mark in collections.
As of 2025, Baahubali 2 continues to hold the record for the highest grossing film in India.
Apart from its box office success, the film also received critical acclaim and several prestigious awards. It won three National Awards at the 65th National Film Awards for Best Stunt Choreography, Best Special Effects, and Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Internationally, it was honoured with the Saturn Award for Best International Film at the 44th Saturn Awards.
