Sunjay Kapur, prominent Indian businessman and Chairman of Sona Comstar Ltd, passed away on June 12 at the age of 53 after suffering a heart attack. Kapur, the former husband of acclaimed Indian actress Karishma Kapoor, was in the United Kingdom playing a polo match when a bee sting inside his mouth reportedly triggered the fatal cardiac arrest.

He was the son of well-known automotive industrialist Surinder Kapur. He led Sona Comstar, a global auto components manufacturer.
A graduate of The Doon School, Kapur pursued his higher education at the University of Buckingham. Apart from his work in the automotive sector, he was known for his interest in polo and his philanthropic efforts.

According to Forbes, at the time of his death, he was ranked as the 2,703rd richest person in the world, with a personal net worth of around USD 1.2 billion.
On the personal front, Kapur was married twice before he tied the knot with Priya Sachdev. His first marriage was to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani in 1996. The couple separated in 2000.
In 2003, he married Karisma Kapoor in a grand Sikh ceremony at Krishna Raj Bungalow in Mumbai. The couple had two children, a daughter named Samaira born in 2005 and a son named Kiaan born in 2011.
Karisma and Sunjay parted ways in 2016, with Karisma getting custody of both children while Sunjay was granted visitation rights.
Following his divorce from Karisma, Sunjay married model-turned-actor Priya Sachdev. The couple had a son in 2018 and named him Azarias.
