Fire at Toh Guan Road caused 50 people to be evacuated, one sent to hospital

A fire that broke out early Thursday (May 4, 2017) morning at 30 Toh Guan Road caused 50 people to be evacuated, and a woman in her 50s to be sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital for burn injuries.

The police was alerted to the fire at 7.38am.

In an update posted by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) at 10.20am, the fire was extinguished in 40 minutes. The SCDF had started damping down operations. (They also thoughtfully proceeded to explain what "damping down" meant.)

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area. The left and centre lanes of Toh Guan Road towards Boon Lay Way are closed.
