Dubai airports boast of having world’s fastest free Wi-Fi

Known for providing enhanced facilities to passengers, Dubai airports now boast of having the world’s fastest Wi-Fi service. Passengers can now access superfast internet service while waiting for their flights.

The new feature has been aptly christened WOW-Fi and offers a top speed of up to 100 megabits per second (mbps) and is about 10 times faster than people have access to in their homes in Dubai.

According to a statement released by Dubai airport officials, “This service provides an internet connection surpassing all other airports.”

The launch of this WOW-Fi service follows Dubai Airports’ launch of an upgraded free unlimited high speed Wi-Fi connection across Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) in December last year.

Dubai Airports is investing in more than 6,000 new Wi-Fi access points to upgrade the entire wireless network’s speed and reliability.

Michael Ibbitson, Executive Vice President of Technology and Infrastructure at Dubai Airports, said, “As the biggest international airport in the world, we are at the heart of many journeys across the globe. With WOW-Fi, passengers will get a speed of up to 100mbps to enable them to quickly download or upload emails, pictures, videos and social media updates and then get on with enjoying the airport or meeting their friends and family across the world.”
