Striking the right notes; why Shekhar Ravjiani charms as a music Guru

Five minutes into his masterclass with an auditorium full of starry-eyed kids, you know he is a Guru they are lucky to have. Shekhar Ravjiani, the milder, calmer, cherubic half of the Vishal-Shekar duo has an ear to spot talent and then the patience to help them improve.

Considering Shekhar himself, as a youngster, benefitted from advice of greats like late Jagjit Singh and shot to national fame in India barely out of teens with 'Sa Ra Ga Ma', he  appreciates the role of mentoring and training. He packs all the passion for teaching and his love for music when he says, "I am going to give my best to all these kids" in a Spotlight interview.

The GIIS - Shekhar Ravjiani School of Music, as far as tie-ups between schools and famous music composers go, could be the beginning of something endearing and enduring.
