As part of UNESCO’s Global Education for All initiative, Beckham visited the Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Educational Institutions Society residential school in Kothavalasa on Wednesday, November 26.

Beckham shared a lighthearted video on social media showing him spending time with the students. The highlight of his visit was the moment he played football with the students on the campus, joining their games with enthusiasm. He also planted a tree with them and participated in a welcome dance and musical activities.

“Great day in India going back to school supporting @educationaboveall_eaa’s project based learning initiatives 🇮🇳 so much fun,” Beckham said in a reel posted online,” Sir David Beckham posted on Instagram.

Beckham also played football with kids in Mumbai. “Loved being back on the pitch with these incredible kids and @unicef in Mumbai….all over the world football always puts a smile on children’s faces. Grateful for the warm welcome 🇮🇳 @unicefindia,” the former England skipper captioned a video he shared on the social media site.

Not just his football skills, while in India’s Financial Capital, Beckham also honed his culinary skills. He also posted a video of him learning how to make Dal Ki Chaat.

This trip comes a year after Beckham’s humanitarian visit in November 2023, when he travelled to Gujarat as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. During that visit, he met adolescent girls and young women working through programmes focused on education and leadership opportunities.

He had also attended the India vs New Zealand ICC World Cup 2023 semi-final in Mumbai and interacted with cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Beckham, regarded as one of football’s all-time greats, has played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and PSG, and earned 115 caps for England, scoring 17 goals. He captained the national team from 2000 to 2006.
