Rahul Gandhi’s pit-stop at Singapore Indian Association

It was almost like, “keep my car’s engine running; I will be in and out”.

Rahul Gandhi’s 15 minute stop over at one of the oldest and the most respected Indian institutions, the Singapore Indian Association (SIA), awarded Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award at Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2017, the foundation stone of which was laid by Rahul’s great-grandfather Mr Jawaharlal Nehru on 18 June 1950, looked nothing more than a formality.

People keen on meeting and hearing the vision of new President of Indian National Congress had, out of their own enthusiasm, arrived almost two hours before Rahul Gandhi’s expected arrival.

As Rahul walked around spending few minutes at various points in the club, made, what some said was the shortest speech they had ever heard; all of 45 seconds. Some disappointed guests like Monisha Charan of an events company Izaara, said, “He could have at least wished all the ladies here, Happy Women’s Day.”
