Five things to do in Singapore over the weekend of Jul 5-7

This weekend, Bhaskareeyam Festival returns with not just performances, but will also feature a series of lec-dems by experienced artistes. 

You may also want to cheer for the teams at the annual sporting event "Kalikkalam" organised by the Singapore Malayalee Association. Alternatively, pick up some travel journaling or urban farming techniques at special workshops held across the weekend!

1. Bhaskareeyam 2019

Officially inaugurated in 2015, the annual Bhaskareeyam Festival celebrates the life of the iconic Shri KP Bhaskar, founder of Bhaskar’s Arts Academy & Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society.

As per tradition, this year's festival will honour four dedicated individuals who have contributed greatly and continue to strive relentlessly to ensure the arts remain a part of the lives of the next generation. Aside from evening performances, there will also be Dance and Music Lec-Dems conducted by esteemed artistes.

2. Journaling Festival 2019: Workshop - Travel Journaling with Sketches

In this workshop, learn how to preserve your travel moments through interesting layouts and storytelling techniques! Artist Szetoo Weiwen will also provide plenty of tips and techniques to help you document your travels in a modern, fresh and fun way.

5. Kalikkalam 2019 Badminton Tournament

After resounding success for the last 8 years, the annual sporting event "Kalikkalam" – organised by the Singapore Malayalee Association – returns this weekend. Head on down to support the teams!

6. Krishna'anubhuti, presented by Soorya, Singapore

An evening of Indian classical dance, Krishna'anubhuti features two presentations. The first performance, titled Krishna Mayam, is a fusion of Kathakali and Bharatanatyam, performed by the Franco-Indian husband-wife duo of Paris Laxmi and Pallippuram Sunil. This will be followed by a Bharatanatyam performance by well-known dancer and Malyali actress Divyaa Unni from the United States of America.
