America’s Delta Air Lines is set to resume operations in India with the planned launch of nonstop flights between Atlanta and New Delhi, according to reports. The service is expected to begin by 2026, subject to government approvals.

This marks Delta’s return to the Indian market after the airline suspended its New York to Mumbai flights during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new route will connect Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Delta’s main hub, with New Delhi. The flight will cover approximately 12,785 kilometres, making it one of the longest nonstop routes in Delta’s global network. The service aims to improve access between the southeastern United States and India.
Delta’s return is part of a broader international strategy involving its partnerships with IndiGo, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic. These partnerships are designed to strengthen connectivity between India, Europe, and North America. The alliance allows passengers to enjoy increased travel options and smoother connections.
Through a new codeshare agreement, Delta and IndiGo will be able to sell seats on each other’s flights. This will help passengers connect more easily between domestic destinations in India and international cities across North America and Europe.
