The event is part of the Indian government's ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate the 75th Independence anniversary.
Indian High Commissioner to Singapore P Kumaran said at the launch of the Mentorship Series, “India @75 is undoubtedly an occasion for celebration but it is also a time for us to think about what remains to be done and what could have been done better in the last 75 years. We very much look forward to bringing new energy and enterprise into our activities, like this mentorship programme, to keep our kids, especially from the Indian diaspora, in touch with Indian culture and traditions, with the gurus of today who are obviously a great inspiration.”
‘Shine on with Shekhar’ is an online outreach program to look for talented singers. Anybody from across the world can record a one-minute video of them singing their favourite song and submit it on www.creativementor.co.
Shekhar Ravjiani is one of India's most well-known music directors and singers, a popular judge of 15 music reality shows such as SaReGaMaPa, Voice kids, Indian idol and many more.
“It always gives me great pleasure to interact with new talent and I am constantly looking for opportunities to give back and give budding artists a platform to be heard. Combined with the milestone of India@75, I am very excited to be a part of this initiative," said Shekhar Ravjiani.
Creative Mentor is a Singapore-based online education platform for the arts focused on a diverse range of artistic practices.
The platform has held numerous workshops and sessions on the platform with world renowned artists like songwriter Victoria Horn, actors Lillete Dubey and Rajat Kapoor and LGBTQ television host and actor Kumar, among others. They also have an exciting line up for 2022.
